Great news that the successful collaboration that RG established in 2016 continues into 2017 and will help us celebrate our 50th anniversary.

The idea is to give the patients (aged 11-25) currently staying in the “Skypad” unit at the University Hospital of Wales, an opportunity to escape and do something different.  Once a month patients are accompanied by the TCT youth support co-ordinator to present a programme that includes a variety of topics in the news, play games and update listeners on what TCT charity is up to – the events they have hosted and the various fundraising activities of individuals and groups across the area.

“My favourite day of the month” was a quote by Hannah, who has been successfully treated for Leukaemia and has been one of the regular contributors to the takeover since it began in February 2016.

The unit in August had a “relaunch”, which RG was invited to – Hannah gave Jamie an audio guided tour – which was then broadcast on the following takeover in September. It was also rebroadcast during the Christmas programming period in a special “TCT takeover: Best of” show.

The show continues to develop this year, with even more patients wanting to get involved to share their own personal stories.

The next TCT takeover is on Sunday 23 April 2017.
