Our presenters

Radio Glamorgan presenters keep patients entertained during their stay in hospital. Here’s some information about our band of dedicated volunteers.

Byron Brain – Sunday Social

Byron has been a member of Radio Glamorgan since May 2013 and he has loved every second. Through his time at Radio Glamorgan Byron became a finalist for Best NewComer in the HBA awards in 2015.
Being a radio presenter has always been a dream of his and he love how much of an impact he can make on the patients when he plays their requests. He is a fan of all genres of music and as a profession he DJ's in bars and clubs in the South Wales area.

On his show he plays nothing but the music you love from 2pm - 5pm plus he has a segment on the show called the "RG Recap" where he plays music from a year of your choosing plus he talks about "What's happened" in that year.

Ian Edwards

Ian has been a volunteer at Radio Glamorgan for a number of years and never did he think he would or could be a radio presenter. The two hours a week that his show runs, he finds the most rewarding two hours of his week.
He shares Thursdays 8-10pm with Rob Jones

About my show:
On the show I play for the first hour ( 8 Till 9 ) a variety of current and in the second ( 9 till 10 ) Soul and R& B music I also choose an ‘Album of the Week’ to play a few tracks from, along with the popular ‘Sport Trivia Question’. I also chat about the local ‘Gig Guide’ as to where to catch any live music events in and around Cardiff.

Simon has been involved with Radio Glamorgan for over 30 years and was made an honorary life member in 2008, when he stepped down after many years of being the Chairman.

He co-presents the Album Chart Show on a Sunday evening alongside John Wilce, followed by his own show at 9pm with the alternative tunes.

He presents occasional 'special' shows which focus on the wide-range of music that he loves (and that he hopes you'll love too!) He also regularly invites local musicians into the studio to record live sessions. Follow him on Twitter to find out when his shows will be broadcast.

He lives in Llanharan, Rhondda Cynon Taff with his wife Sarah, Molly the dog and cats Rumble and Penny. He works at an ad agency during the day and in his spare time enjoys going to the cinema, hiking and listening to his ever-expanding vinyl collection.

Rob Jones

After his initial training, Rob went solo with his own show in early 2016.

He joined Radio Glamorgan for the fame and fortune that goes with being on an award winning hospital radio station.

All about the diversity of volunteers on Radio Glamorgan and the camaraderie that comes from meeting people from all walks of life.

Whilst presenting his show, playing music is obviously rewarding, but Rob also enjoys the interaction with members of the public when undertaking fundraising events, such as regular bucket collections.

Expect to hear rock in all its formats, punk, post-punk, indie, Britpop, ska, grunge, heavy metal, Madchester, alternative, electronic, rock'n'roll, rockabilly and whatever takes the fancy!
Unusually, Rob refuses to have a mobile phone but you can catch him in the studio on a Thursday evening between 8-10pm on Alternate weeks (He shares the slot with Ian Edwards)

John Webber

John cannot remember when he joined Radio Glamorgan … but it was a very long time ago.

He saw an article in the South Wales Echo by the then secretary Nic Clarke. He soon became part of the furniture and the rest is a story of years of very enjoyable presenting. Music is magic, all kinds of music, and the fact he gets to share the love of music is his reward for the time he takes putting a programme together!

You can usually hear the dulcet tones of John between 10am-1pm on a Monday

When not at RG, he plays league skittles (in winter), league bowls (in summer), being Chairman of the bowls club and all year round a very nervous season ticket holder for Cardiff City

Tune in to join in!

John Wilce

John joined RG back in 2003 and loves music of all kinds, especially the music from the 60’s. He’s a big fan of the Beatles but loves the Stereophonics and Manic Street Preachers too.

He started his working life in telecommunications which included a variety of roles which he did for 23yrs but now he can be found working for Tesco and has done for over 20 years.

John would love to be able to play the guitar or sit down at a piano and play without music, by playing by ear – instead he can be found playing his favourites and yours on RG between 7-9pm on a Sunday Evening

Sunday Select:
The show is fast spirited covering music from the 50's and 60's to the current chart
