Hospital Radio Glamorgan is celebrating a major new chapter after officially launching on DAB across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
The award-winning station, which is run entirely by dedicated volunteers and based at the University Hospital of Wales, can now be heard by more listeners than ever before. The expansion to DAB means even more patients, staff, visitors and the wider community can enjoy the station’s unique mix of music, entertainment and health information.
To mark the launch, Hospital Radio Glamorgan will be showcasing its output across a special weekend of live programming which includes celebrating St David’s Day! Listeners can tune in to sample a range of shows, hear some of the voices behind the station and get a taste of what’s on offer throughout the week, from uplifting music programmes to specialist shows and health-focused features too.

“This is another historic milestone in our station’s history. Next year, we turn 60, and what better way to start the celebrations early than launching on DAB. This allows us to further serve patients, staff and visitors with need-to-know information, great music and engaging shows.
Hospital radio has always been about companionship and connection. Since 1967, we’ve been providing entertainment and a friendly voice for patients during their stay, and being on DAB helps us bring that comfort to even more people across our community. This launch ensures we can continue to grow, reach new audiences and remain a valued service for years to come.”
