MS Walk Cardiff is returning to the heart of the Welsh capital on Saturday 27 June, with hundreds of supporters expected to walk, roll or stroll through Bute Park in support of everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis.

This year marks a change in tradition for the event, with the MS Society moving the date from its usual September slot to June for the first time, in the hope of better weather for participants and their families. With 109 people already signed up, fundraisers are confident the final turnout will climb to between 130 and 150 by the day itself, with walkers also able to register and sign up on the morning.

MS Walk is the MS Society’s flagship fundraising event and has been taking place across the UK for more than 10 years. During 2026, MS Walks will take place in Manchester, Belfast, Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and London, with a range of distances for all ages and abilities. All routes are fully accessible.

Taking place at Bute Park, Orchard Lawn, from 9:00am, the event offers 1km, 5km and 10km routes through the city, as well as a brand-new three-route challenge for those looking to push themselves further. The walk is open to all ages and abilities, from toddlers in strollers to seasoned walkers, with every participant receiving a free MS Walk t-shirt and a medal to mark their achievement at the finish line.

Entry costs £15 for adults, £7 for under-18s, and is free for children aged five and under, with a suggested fundraising target of £150 – reflecting the 150,000 people living with MS across the UK.

Speaking ahead of the event, Ceri Bevan, Community Fundraising Manager at the MS Society, said:

“It’s brilliant to see MS Walk Cardiff coming back bigger and brighter than ever. Moving the event to June was all about giving our walkers the best possible chance of sunshine, and it’s wonderful to already have over 100 people signed up with plenty more expected on the day itself. Whether you’re walking 1km with the family or taking on the full challenge, every single step and every penny raised makes a real difference to people living with MS right across Wales”

Shelley Elgin, Country Director for Wales at the MS Society, said:

“MS Walk Cardiff is one of the highlights of our fundraising calendar in Wales, and it’s fantastic to see so much enthusiasm building ahead of this year’s event. With more than 6,000 people living with MS in Wales, events like this are vital, not just for the funds they raise, but for bringing our community together in such a positive and uplifting way. We can’t wait to see everyone in Bute Park on the 27th.”

Walkers can still register ahead of the event or simply turn up and sign up on the day. Participants are encouraged to set up a JustGiving page to maximise their fundraising, with all funds raised going directly towards supporting people living with MS and funding vital research.
